For the purposes of this document, the Wheel – A Sustainability Hub Inc. is to be referred to as ‘the Wheel inc.’.
Membership and Registration
Membership generally
Members must be registered in MyTurn prior to borrowing their first item.
Membership levels are detailed on the Wheel Inc.’s website http://www.thewheel.org.au/.
Membership fees and entitlements are subject to change.
Membership must be ratified with a valid government-issued identification upon first loan.
Membership is conditional upon acceptance of the borrower’s agreement and liability waiver.
Non-Members must provide card details and government-issued identification prior to lending.

Borrowing restrictions
The Wheel Inc. retains the right to refuse lending of items to any person for any reason other than contrary to Australian Law.
Borrowing and online reservation of items will be suspended if a member’s credit/debit card expires during the membership period. Borrowing and reservation will be reinstated upon the provision of new details.
Borrowing and Returns
When
Lending and returning will be available during the library of thing’s opening hours as posted on the Wheel Inc’s website. These hours are subject to change.
Where
The Wheel Inc.’s Library of Things is located...
Items for return must not be left unattended outside the premises at any time. They must be received by the Wheel Inc.’s staff or volunteers.
Items not correctly returned to the Wheel Inc. volunteers on-site, during opening hours, by the return date will incur late fees per section 2.4 below.
Items must be returned clean and in good repair or additional charges may be incurred under section 2.5.
Item limits and renewals
Standard and Concession members may borrow up to five items at one time.
2.3.2 On-site renewals may be permitted on the return date at the discretion of the Wheel Inc., subject to demand.
2.3.3 Members may renew items online up to three times prior to the return date.
2.4 Late return fees
2.4.1 Members will be charged late fees as specified on each item’s individual listing on MyTurn.
2.4.2 Fees will be charged automatically to member’s designated credit card.
2.4.3 Further borrowing is restricted until all overdue items are returned.
2.4.4 The Wheel Inc. may take steps to recover overdue the Wheel Inc. items after a reasonable time, including by using a recovery agency and/or legal action.
2.5 Loss or Damage
2.5.1 In the event of damage or loss to any inventory item, the responsible member is liable to immediate repayment to the Wheel Inc. of the following:
(a) the replacement cost of any item which, for whatever reason, is not returned to The Wheel Inc.;
(b) costs incurred in cleaning any items returned in an unclean state;
(c) the full cost of repairing any damage to any item (not customarily considered wear and tear);
(d) the full cost of replacing the damaged item if repair is not possible;
(f) all costs incurred by the Wheel Inc. in recovering possession of any items (including legal fees).
2.6 Item availability
2.6.1 The Wheel Inc. cannot guarantee that all reserved items will be available for collection. The Wheel Inc. will endeavour to contact you as soon as practicable if your reserved item(s) is unavailable.
3. Safe and Proper Use
3.1 Who can use
3.1.1 Only registered Members are authorised to use the Wheel Inc.’s items. Members must not permit any items to be used by any other person unless with the express written permission of the Wheel Inc.
3.1.2 Members must not lend borrowed items to any other person.
3.2 Members must immediately discontinue use of any borrowed item if it breaks or otherwise becomes unsafe.
3.3 Members must not attempt to repair or otherwise modify items.
3.4 If the Wheel Inc. staff or volunteers identify a need for you to borrow additional equipment related to your selected items, either for safety or effective use or any other reason, you must accept and comply with this advice.
3.5 Members are responsible for the following:
Determining item(s) are suitable for the member’s intended purpose;
Safe and lawful operation of the item(s) following any manufacturer’s instructions provided with the item (if any);
Use of personal protective equipment where provided;
Thoroughly assessing hazard and risks before using the item(s).
3.6 Members agree that the Wheel Inc. is not responsible for any manufacturing defects in the quality of workmanship or materials inherent in any borrowed items.
4. Updates to this document
4.1 The Wheel Inc. will notify current members of any changes to the Member Borrowing Rules & Item Use Policy. Policy updates apply to all item loans beginning after the notification date.
5. Privacy and Data Collection
5.1 The Wheel Inc. will take all reasonable steps to protect members’ personal information online.
5.2 The Wheel Inc. does not personally store any data on members.
5.2.1 MyTurn is used to power our library, and member profiles are stored using this platform.
5.2.2 Stripe is used to collect online payments and store payment details. The privacy and/or data security policies of these providers are linked below*.
5.3 By applying for membership online and using the Wheel Inc.’s web-based catalogue and payment gateway providers, members are submitting personal data at their own risk. The Wheel Inc. is not liable for any breaches of member’s privacy or abuse of member’s personal information by any other party.
